Women’s Workwear and Comfortable Shoes with JD Women

The fact that some companies still expect women to wear heels in the workplace is archaic. As a career focused woman, I know the importance of looking smart and presentable, but I would rather someone judge me on my ambition, intelligence and work output than on the pair of shoes I am wearing. As with most other areas in life, you are at your best when you feel comfortable and confident, and so having the option to wear flat, comfortable shoes in the workplace is very important to me and the other wonderful ladies on my team. Of course, wearing heels is cool too and if I want to pop on my favourite pair of chunky heeled sandals and my favourite lipstick for a meeting I will do, but its having the choice that’s important.

JD Women are creating a collection for women’s work shoes, which will consist of flat and comfortable footwear to suit day to day work life and break stereotypes that women should have to wear heels to work. Being able to select a smart part of shoes that are comfortable and cool – instead of always feeling the need to wear heels – from the alternative selection that JD provide is something I totally get on board with.

Although we don’t have a strict dress code at work, as the head of the marketing department at my company, I like to try and set an example and dress relatively smart. Sure, on Fridays I might wear jeans, but for the rest of the week I am pretty uniformed in a pair of black trousers or a midi/maxi dress, both with flat shoes for every day wear in the office.

Here I’m wearing my Converse All Stars in Ox from JD Sports Women’s Footwear Range, which are the perfect pair of comfortable flats to take me from a day in the office, to drinks after work, even to the gym as I continue my strength training sessions three evenings a week after work. They are excellent all rounders and despite not being a traditional workwear choice, are the perfect new additions to my workwear wardrobe.
