19 Cafe Bar, Manchester: Brunch in the Northern Quarter

If you’re looking for somewhere relaxed for a quiet Sunday brunch this weekend, then I have just the place for you. Nestled in the heart of the vibrant Northern Quarter in Manchester City Centre, 19 Café Bar proclaims itself as the ‘best place for brunch in Manchester’ and well, when I heard that, I had to try it out for myself. So, on a rather dull Saturday Morning in Manchester, my blogger date Hello Terri Lowe and I took Lazy Sonny Days to 19 Café Bar in the Northern Quarter, Manchester, to try the brunch for ourselves.

You may have walked past 19 Café Bar without really noticing it, but inside its beautifully relaxing and a very chilled, rustic environment. With bare brick walls and industrial style décor, it’s very ‘Northern Quarter’ without being pretentious and has a lovely atmosphere for having a late breakfast or lunch date with your gal pal, which is exactly what I was doing.

We started off our brunch date with a latte and a white chocolate mocha, both of which were great coffees. I was surprised that 19 Café Bar actually serve a wide range of cocktails and also open at night for events. Note the ‘dog date’ poster I found, which I enquired about (duh!) and was told it’s an evening ticketed event where you can bring your dogs to mingle and network. How cute! I had kinda hoped it might be doggy dating, speed-dating style though…

For food, I chose the Big Breakfast (£9.95) which usually comes with 2 sausages, 2 bacon, 2 fried eggs, beans, mushrooms, tomato, black pudding and toasted bloomer. However, being a fussy devil I changed out my sausages and black pudding for halloumi as featured on the vegetarian breakfast. It was delicious and set me up so well for the day that I didn’t even need any dinner!

Terri decided to steer away from the traditional and try one of the daily specials that 19 Café Bar are trying out at the moment. She had halloumi and spinach fritters served with avocado, tomato and a poached egg on top. As you can see, this was beautifully presented and I am told tasted just as good as it looked!

Over all, 19 Café Bar is the perfect location for a relaxed brunch date in Manchester City Centre. Not only is it a lovely chilled place with very instagrammable décor, it’s food is delicious (with vegetarian and vegan options) and the staff there are super friendly, welcoming and helpful in recommending their favourite dishes and specials
