2 x Outfit of the Days: Matalan Style Challenge

Jumper: Matalan – Jacket: BANK – Skirt: Neon Rose – Ray Bans: Shade Station – Shirt: Primark – Necklace: Primark – Tights: Primark – Heels: Neon Rose
Hey kittens, hope y’all have all had a lovely week and are looking forward to the weekend – have a cocktail on me! Today’s Outfit of the Day is a little different to the usual… In fact it’s not an Outfit of the Day blog post at all, it’s two!

As y’all know, I’m a huge fan of the high street – affordable fashion that’s accessible to anyone – so when the lovely ladies at Matalan got in touch to ask me if I’d like to take part in their latest style challenge, I couldn’t resist! For the challenge, I was asked to be removed from my comfort zone a little and style some items I have few of… Plain knitwear! However, as I’m always up for making a go of things, I got my best accessories out and got cracking….

My first look included a jumper in my favourite colour – red! A beautiful, festive shade, it was dead easy for me to style this jumper in a way similar to my usual style. Note the peterpan collared shirt I’m wearing underneath it; gotta keep that preppy look. As ever, I juxtaposed with a huge statement necklace to add an added bit of “bling” to the look. I especially chose this Primark necklace to go with the red shades, pairing it with my tartan biker jacket from Bank and “skort”-esque skirt from Neon Rose to toughen up the look a little. As a finishing touch, I added my favourite Clubmaster Ray Bans from Shade Station to add a little bit of pretence… Who do I think I am? Haha!

(Apologies if this a post is a little picture heavy – I dithered about whether writing two separate blog posts but thought whamming them all together would be best. Keep reading under the cut to see my second look…)

Jumper: Matalan – Jacket: IL2L – Dress: Neon Rose – Shirt: Primark – Necklace: Primark – Tights: Primark – Hat: Primark
For my second look, I wanted to keep things similar but different – you know what I mean, right? Using similar accessories to create a similar style of look but still one that looks very different. Yeah, you get it! The jumper in this look is the same style as the red but I chose this in a bigger size than usual to be slightly oversized and I love the way it fits. Combined, the red colour with this fit would be my perfect winter jumper. Did I mention how snuggly they are?!

Again, I wanted to toughen up the look a little to move away from a cliched knitwear look, so I popped on my favourite quilted leather jacket from IL2L and a trible to give a little bit of that rockstar edge. Well, it would be nice to think so wouldn’t it?! The skirt I’m wearing with this is actually a bodycon dress from Neon Rose which I’m wearing under the jumper – just another different way to wear a piece of clothing. Plus – winter layers!

I wore the same tights, heels and necklace as the first look to show how easy it is to utilise the same accessories but still make quite different looks. Also, I thought it would be kinda nice to make some cohesion between the two looks to make these a unified style challenge – y’all know I’m always keen on a theme!

So kittens, which is your favourite look? Leave me a comment below and let me know! And don’t forget to follow me on Twitterlike my Facebook page and subscribe to my Youtube channel to keep up to date with all things fashion!
