Outfit of the Day: Tartan Jumper & Skater Skirt

Hiya kitty cats, Happy Sunday! It’s the first weekend in November which means we’re on Halloween weekend! Oooh – spooky, eh? I bet you were expecting me to bring you a Halloween inspired outfit today, but no, I’m not into that malarky. As much as I love getting into festivities, the 31st October is pretty much the same as any other day to me (I’ve never been much into dressing up and celebrating the ghosties) so it’s only fair I bring you a pretty-much-the-same Outfit of the Day to match.

Today’s look is a pretty simple, down-to-eath, chilled out look. Well, as chilled out as you can look in a shirt; y’all know I’m big on collars. However, this little cotton blouse is mostly covered by my huge, slouch fit jumper from Missi Clothing, with only the gold collar tips poking out to say hello to the rest of the gold hardware on my outfit. Although never having been a huge fan of knitwear, I’ve certainly grown into (or rather, shrunk inside) the oversized sweater style this Autumn. Plus, these black and red block colours are a modern take on tartan. Hello, the biggest trend for A/W ’13.

Not only is this jumper a super duper easy peasy way of wearing inarguably one of this season’s must-have trends, its proper comfortable too. And warm! The list goes on – which is why it was ideal for a casual day of shopping and drinks round my beloved Manchester. Don’t you just love this location? This Breaking Bad inspired graffiti and cobbled roads can be found in the Northern Quarter of our hometown – definitely worth a visit next time you’re up Norf.
Because the knitwear is such a statement piece in this look, I was conscious not to override it with too many other prints. No matter how many fashion bloggers will tell you that clashing prints is all the rage this year, I still reckon it’s best to keep things simple at times. So simple it was. My pleather skater skirt from Prodigy Red was the ideal finishing touch – keeping things all black but softening the look with a floaty fit. Ideal.

So kittens, what do you think of this casual look? Leave me a comment below and let me know! And don’t forget to follow me on Twitterlike my Facebook page and subscribe to my Youtube channel to keep up to date with all things fashion!
