Couture Crush: Launch Event

Hiya kittens – today’s post is suitable for every glamour puss out there… A couple of weeks ago (okay, longer than that – it was a bloomin’ ages ago, but I’ve been busy, sorry!) I was invited to the launch of new fashion website, Couture Crush. “Another new fashion site”, you say? Well, yeah, but this one’s a bit different. Because not only does it sell some new items, it sells a lot of preloved ones too.

Couture Crush is founded on the idea of swapping or selling your preloved designer items for much less than other auction-like sites. We all know its a bit risky buying designer items second hand, especially online, so Couture Crush has tried to combat that by using an authentication service, Authenticate4U. Apparently they’re the first reseller that offers both the opportunity to sell and swap your items online, rather than one or the other. A nifty idea, but pretty brave to take on the champion of all preloved websites… Dun dun dun… eBay.

Anyway, back to the event! The launch took place at Circle Club, an infamous footballer type haunt in the centre of town – probably pretty appropriate considering the aim to sell pre-worn Louboutins and designer handbags. As I entered, I was greeted with a champagne cocktail and a cupcake, both of which I am a big fan of. Inside, most of my favourite Manchester bloggers were waiting for me which was lovely; its always so good to see my blog babes.

Throughout the night there were dancers, canapés and a short presentation from Creative Director Kaley Beardsmore (although I have to say they did run a -little- behind schedule and unfortunately I couldn’t stay for the whole thing). Overall, it was pretty laid back, which is nice. Of the idea behind Couture Crush, Kaley told me, ‘when I came up with this concept, I didn’t realise how enthusiastic people were about the ease of buying, selling and swapping pre loved high end garments online. Working with Authenticate4U allows our customers to gain full trust and confidence in the authenticity of our seller’s products. In addition our ‘switch for free’ allows guilt free shopping.”

Over all, the site has had some rave reviews, although I’m not sure just how well it will take off. I agree that its a fab idea, but really, if you’re a glamour puss lucky enough to be able to regularly buy designer items, I’m not sure you’re the target audience for swapping or selling with pre-loved enthusiasts. However, I had a lovely night and wish Kaley and her team all the luck in the world. We kittens got to stick together, right?
