The Body Shop Smoky Poppy Collection

Valentines’ Day is fast approaching and although I’m a single gal who ‘don’t need no man’, I do get kinda sucked into the pretty festive packaging and new collections coming out at this time to celebrate the season. Nothing too soppy, mind, but I like red and there’s a TON of it about right now. Speaking of which, The Body Shop has truly out done themselves with their latest collection: Smoky Poppy. Although this hasn’t been launched specifically for Valentines’, it does coincide pretty well and if there’s one thing for me to be grateful for this Valentines’ Day, it’s this!
One of the items from the collection, The Smoky Poppy Massage Oil*, is definitely aimed at the happy couples of this time of year (no, I’m not bitter). Unfortunately I’m not in a position to try this product out as it was intended, haha, but instead I’ve been using this as a kind of shower oil? Not really what it’s meant for, but it seems to work pretty well and the scent is DIVINE.

Speaking of scents, The Smoky Poppy Eu De Toilette* just smells delicious. The product description says ‘you’re only a spritz away from seduction’ and it’s really true. This fragrance is unlike any other that I’ve smelt before – as bad as I am at describing a scent, it smells the way the packaging looks; dark, sexy and passionate. (Cringing a bit at my description there, but it’s true!). If anything, this smells expensive and distinctive, which is why I was so surprised at it costing only £8.50! A complete bargain and beyond reasonable for a whole new scent – next time you’re looking for a new perfume, I would highly recommend going into your local Body Shop and giving this a sniff.

Next up is the Smoky Poppy Body Scrub*. This is a body exfoliator that actually contains real Poppy seeds to add exfoliation, which is very appropriate and a really nice touch. As with all Smoky Poppy items, this smells absolutely gorgeous and is perfect for a girly pamper night in, which is exactly what I will be doing this Valentines’ Day!

Last but by no means least, the final item I tried from the Smoky Poppy collection was the Lip and Cheek Universal Velvet Stick*. A long name, but this is essentially a lip and cheek crayon. The most interesting part of this item is the colour of the product itself – as you can see, the crayon itself is actually almost black, which surprised me when I first tried it! However, when applying, it claims to adapt to the natural pH of your skin to create your very own Velvet shade. Mine turns out as this pretty violet/pink colour, which starts off quite pale but is very buildable. It’s actually a really lovely shade and looks especially pretty on the lips – a lovely Winter shade.

Over all, I am more than delighted with this new collection, not least for the sophisticated and sexy packaging. The Body Shop are SUCH babes and not only sent me four little bits and bobs from The Smoky Poppy collection to try, but knowing my sister is actually called Poppy, sent over some extra bits for her. HOW SWEET IS THAT? Honestly, I have always loved The Body Shop for many reasons (excellent quality, cruelty free, wide range of products) but working with them as a blogger has always been an absolute delight, too. Major thumbs up from me!
