Home Colours To Match Your Personality

As you guys who have read my blog for a while know, I bought my first house last year. Since then, I’ve been taking the past year to totally renovate it, spruce it up and choose the colours that work best for both the space and my personality. If you are looking for a little home décor inspiration, then today I’m sharing some of the key colours I’ve used across my home and why, inspired by the beautiful #ColourYourPersonality e-book created by homedecor powerhouse https://www.juliancharles.co.uk/.

Millennial Pink

Let’s get the obvious one of out of the way – millennial pink! As so-called millennial, I have to confess I have been all over that baby pink craze since last year, and my love for it is not dwindling. In fact, every time I see it I love it more!

I chose to paint my conservatory this beautiful dusky pastel pink and it actually turned out to be brighter than I expected, but the perfect shade! I use this space for entertaining (and have recently set up a bar in there – pics coming soon!) so it fits the description of the pink personality traits in Julian Charles’ #ColourYourPersonality e-book perfect. They say that choosing pink means ‘you’re a warm, friendly and approachable person, and the same goes for your home which feels inviting’ – exactly the kind of vibe I wanted in my conservatory-come-bar for entertaining guests.

Yellow Gold

I have a lot of yellow gold elements in my house. I love the classic look and so yellow gold is the perfect way for me to channel art deco, brass chic whilst also looking modern. As Julian Charles say, using yellow in your home means ‘you often dress to impress and are extremely houseproud’ and I think that’s a pretty accurate way to describe my sense of style.

The #ColourYourPersonality e-book also recommends styling yellow with lots of white to break up the colour, and that’s exactly what I’ve done in my bedroom. I absolutely adore the metallic gold polka dot wallpaper I have on my feature wall but there is no way I would have it all the way across the room – the rest of the walls are all white, the carpet is neutral and all my accessories are white or gold as to not create too much of a mish mash of colours. I honestly think it works quite well.

Baby Blue

For my guest bedroom, I wanted to go with a fairly neutral colour on the walls, and so I chose to use baby blue alongside white, grey and silver décor items. As Julian Charles say, ‘Blue is the strongest feng shui colour. It’s the colour that brings calm and peace’ – and that’s exactly the type of vibe I wanted in my guest room.

Of course, as its my home, I couldn’t help but inject a bit of personality in there with my reference to pugs and French bulldogs – well, it wouldn’t be ‘me’ otherwise, would it?!
