Hey kittens, hope you’ve all been enjoying the coverage of London Fashion Week. Today, I’m lucky enough to bring you my very own coverage as this weekend I headed down to the “big smoke” to witness London Fashion Week for myself… And what a weekend it was!
On Saturday morning, I got my heels on bright and early and jumped (okay, tottered) onto the Virgin train from Manchester to London Euston. Aside from a couple of minor setbacks – the weather, train delays, hotel confusion, count ’em! – I slapped on my favourite red lippy and headed over to Fashion Scout for my first day (Day 2 of #LFW) on the scene. Despite having made plans to visit a number of different areas around Somerset House, including an incredible appointment at The Savoy which I unfortunately had to miss due to just not having enough darn time to fit everything in, the Freemasons Hall became my home for Saturday 15th February.

Having been invited by The Body Shop to attend for the SS14 season in September when I was unfortunately (or fortunately, depends how you see it!) away last year, I had been crossing my fingers, toes, everything in the hopes they would invite me back this Feb. And I was not disappointed! As official sponsors of Fashion Scout, The Body Shop gave me access-all-areas to this amazing renown fashion event for the whole weekend – and I am so thankful to them!

Fashion Scout is a fashion platform that runs alongside London Fashion Week and this weekend was it’s 7th season. Taking place at the beautifully grand Freemasons Hall, it is a stone’s throw from Somerset House and home to fashion royalty! As official sponsors, The Body Shop did the makeup for each of the different shows for the whole long weekend, with each look being specially designed by their head-makeup artist, Lan. With so many diverse collections being shown throughout #FashionScout, Lan was definitely a busy gal!

With access to the backstage area and media lounge, I was in fashion blogger heaven! However, charging stations, Wifi and all the hashtags I desired could not prepare me for the hectic-ness of the day. I was told that Saturday was the busiest of all show days – and I can believe it! With Snog providing frozen yoghurt, coconut water to the hearts content, The Body Shop makeovers and some hot fashion picks being demonstrated in the media lounge, there was barely enough chill out time to get my lippy touched up. Not that I am complaining – I absolutely loved the adrenaline of the shows, a definite highlight of 2014 so far.

I dived in at the deep end by watching the Kiev Fashion Days show first; a collective catwalk full of new designers, which turned out to be a relatively long show. With mixed textures, clashing prints and so many looks to snap away at, I was in awe. Just as interesting, however, were the other spectators. I love a good bit of people watching and spying who’s on the “frow” (that’s front row, if you’re not 100% on your LFW slang yet) was equally as entertaining. The amazing priority seats we got for every show with The Body Shop was just another bonus!

Straight after this show, I was invited backstage to see the looks being created for the next show, Belle Savage. Wow, backstage is like going into another world! I’m often told I’m pretty tall for a girl but I immediately felt tiny standing amongst tens of tower, slender models (who incidentally, seemed rather shy and very lovely when not on the runway). With makeup artists, hairdressers and cameras everywhere, it was such a hectic experience but I managed to steal some time with The Body Shop’s head makeup artist, Lan, who told me Belle Savage’s look was one of her very favourites this season; note the heart shaped lips and wide-eyed white eyeliner. Very doll-like. Apparently the models loved how big the white made their eyes look!

Speaking of which, Belle Savage was my favourite show of the day. I am honestly to enamoured with the collection that I was tempted to run backstage again and grab it all for myself. Think: bold colours of reds, blacks and golds. Military inspired hats and chains. Vintage shapes and feminine figures with a fierce edge. It’s as though someone had seen inside my imagination and created the look. I feel so grateful I got to witness it, again from amazing priority seats.

So kittens, it’s safe to say I had a super busy day, but I will save the rest of the details for my vlog, coming up on my Youtube channel very soon! I also have my Sunday (Day 3 London Fashion Week) blog post coming up for y’all shortly, but for now, feel free to leave me any questions you might have from Day 2. I would love to hear from you!

Thank you again to The Body Shop for a wonderful weekend!
