Outfit of the Day: Sports Luxe

Trousers: Matalan – Vest: Matalan – Necklace: Primark – Shoes: F&F

Hey kittens, how’s ya Monday going so far? Today I’m featured on Matalan’s website as their guest blogger, wearing this very outfit. Exciting! Read on to find out more.

Now, I bet y’all would never see the day I would be styling Sports Luxe. Nope, nuh uh, no way. My blog posts about Fitness Fashion and Adidas Originals x Urban Outfitters made it pretty clear that trainers will never be my “thing”, nor tracksuits, nor hoodies… However, there is one Sports Luxe trend I have been loving and that’s tapered trousers.

The shape of a good tapered trouser should graze the ankle, pull up to just over the hips and fit slimline down the leg and these Matalan beauties do just that. As a retailer known for selling cheap womens clothing, Matalan really stands out from the crowd for on-trend pieces that are totally affordable. As a miniscule £12 (that’s the cost of a burger at GBK!) this snakeskin pair have quickly become a Summer 2013 favourite of mine. Despite being so bright, they’re totally wearable when paired with all black everythan’ and are SO flattering. I can’t praise them enough!

Sports Luxe can be dressed a number of ways. In fact, it’s a pretty flexible trend which lets you interpret it in basically any way you like. To fit my personal style, I kept the rest of the look pretty sleek, but if y’all are wanting to embrace it more, slip on a pair of sneakers instead of heels. Instead, I popped on my new favourite Louboutin dupes from… Wait for it… Tesco! I know, I know, I can’t get over these patent peep toe heels either, as they are almost exact dupes of the Christian Louboutin Altadama’s which retail at £550. Gurl’s gotta economise in the recession!

Although I chose heels to add a little femininity to the outfit and to compliment the tapered style of the trousers, I thought I’d keep the Sports Luxe vibe a little too by wearing a vest top and accessorising with some chunky jewellery – my necklace is a vintage special and my watch is Lipsy via Get The Label. This black number is another Matalan find, the longline fit making it perfect for that slouchy yet smart Sports Luxe feel. I’m wearing a size 12 and I’d say it’s perfectly overfitted for this look, with the racerback detail complimenting the look completely.

So kittens, what do you think of Sports Luxe? Leave me a comment below and let me know! And don’t forget to follow me on Twitterlike my Facebook page and subscribe to my Youtube channel to keep up to date with all things fashion!
