Outfit of the Day: Graphic Floral Print

Blouse: Glamorous – Shorts: Brick Vintage – Satchel: Brit Stitch – Necklace: Dorothy Perkins
Heels: Market –  Necklace: Dorothy Perkins – Headband: Market

Hey kittens! Today’s outfit of the day video is something pretty revolutionary – florals for summer! I know, pretty daring. But seriously, what better way to celebrate this week’s glorious weather (yep, actually like it really is June) than a graphic-print floral Mary Katrantzou inspired outfit; a far cry from the decidedly miserable Tropical Manchester outfit post last week.

Following international fashion designer, Mary Katrantzou’s visit to Manchester last week, I have been hugely inspired by her bold colours and graphic prints. Our Mary’s designs are, in her own words, consist of “a hyperrealist aesthetic, bold graphics and industrial jewellery”. Now, I might not be in a position to fork out a casual couple of grand for one of her dresses, but as I mentioned in my blog post about her visit, I feel Glamorous have done an amazing job of recreating very similar looks for a fraction of the price. This half-print contrast floral blouse is the perfect example – such an unusual photographic floral print very reminiscent of Katranzou and amazing quality for a bargainous £21.

As you can see in my video, the shorts are also inspired by graphic prints of nature on the other half of the garment. This time, these vintage Levi 501 denim shorts from Brick Vintage show half a beach scene sewn into the fabric of the garments. I absolutely love when retro items have been reworked to give them a new lease of life, and as a vintage enthusiast, I love mixing the new with the old! These high-waisted, handmade beauties are (hopefully, weather permitting!) going to be a staple for me this season. Every kitten needs that go to pair of denim shorties for summer!

As ever, I chose my accesories carefully to complete the outfit. I kept things fairly simple with my standard retro white heels to compliment my blouse and this metallic jewel chunky necklace from Dorothy Perkins, which actually does a good job of picking out the metallic shades in the shirt. When I say I kept things “simple”, I do appreciate this floral crown headband won’t be to everyone’s taste – it’s a  definite statement item but one I’ve fallen in love with. Plus, how perfectly does it go with these gorgeous tulips?! As the finishing touch, my cute and kitsch Half Pint in African Violet really adds the cherry (or, erm, satchel) on top of the cake. Brit Stitch really do a satchel in any shape or shade you could possibly need, with their bright yet pastel colours making them the perfect complimentary accessories for summer.

So kittens, have you been lucky enough to have good weather this week? Or are you still suffering in the rain? Leave me a comment below and let me know! And don’t forget to follow me on Twitterlike my Facebook page and subscribe to my Youtube channel to keep up to date with all things fashion!
